The Middle Class

I recently read an article about the middle class “shrinking” on yahoo’s web page.  I was most surprised by the the 22 reasons why it was.  I can not find the link to the original article, but the one thing it did point out was the top 1% of Americans own most of America’s assets/wealth through stocks and shares.  I can remember when I was much younger, my family elders telling me to invest in the markets.  I wonder if I had headed that warning if I would still be …

Why Blacks Should Be Outraged at Arizona’s Immigration Law

Of course, the concept of white or blonde illegal aliens is apparently beyond the capacity of the people passing the laws or the editors at the Herald. But nearly 600,000 of those in the United States illegally were estimated to come from Europe or Canada in 2005; and while I knew many Irish, English and other Europeans who had overstayed their visas when I was growing up in New York, I never heard of a raid of an Irish bar, except when ATF or the FBI were trying to trap Irish Republican …

Pacquiao-Mayweather still possibility

Now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has dispatched Shane Mosley, talk immediately turned to the potential showdown with Manny Pacquiao, who has apparently softened his stance on the drug testing procedures that derailed their negotiations in January.
When Pacquiao and Mayweather reached an impasse, Pacquiao went on to easily defeat Joshua Clottey on March 13 and Mayweather took a lopsided unanimous decision against Mosley in their welterweight super fight on Saturday night.
Mayweather, who accused Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs despite having no evidence, had insisted on strict blood and urine testing, which …

Investigators acknowledged that much about the bombing attempt, the most serious in the United States since the Christmas Day incident aboard a commercial flight bound for Detroit, …

I would like to start this article by saying i love my country, i love the ideas and philosophy that America has inspired.
We no longer live in that America.  The America today has boiled down to the bottom line of an expense report.  That is all that matters on a day to day basis in our country. The federal government started this trend and state and local governments have followed suit.  All three phases of government are consistently coming up with new ways to get your money. below are just …

Yes or No for Pot

I compiled a pro/con list on whether or not we as a county should legalize marijuana.
So put this in your pipe and smoke it.
Yes

The drug generally isn’t more harmful than alcohol or tobacco if used in moderation.
Limiting the use of the drug intrudes on personal freedom.
Legalization would mean a lower price; thus, related crimes (like theft) would be reduced.
There are medical benefits such as the those for cancer patients.
Street justice related to drug disputes would be reduced.
It could be a source of additional tax revenues.
Police and court resources would be freed …
