I recently read an article about the middle class “shrinking” on yahoo’s web page. I was most surprised by the the 22 reasons why it was. I can not find the link to the original article, but the one thing it did point out was the top 1% of Americans own most of America’s assets/wealth through stocks and shares. I can remember when I was much younger, my family elders telling me to invest in the markets. I wonder if I had headed that warning if I would still be …

Of course, the concept of white or blonde illegal aliens is apparently beyond the capacity of the people passing the laws or the editors at the Herald. But nearly 600,000 of those in the United States illegally were estimated to come from Europe or Canada in 2005; and while I knew many Irish, English and other Europeans who had overstayed their visas when I was growing up in New York, I never heard of a raid of an Irish bar, except when ATF or the FBI were trying to trap Irish Republican …

Here we go again… another Halle Berry breakup story. At some point you have to start thinking that maybe she’s the one that has the issues, not each and every man that she’s been with for her entire career.
After highly publicized relationships with R&B singer Christopher Williams and an abusive relationship with Wesley Snipes that left her partially deaf in her right ear, Halle’s first marriage was to former baseball player David Justice, shortly after midnight on January 1, 1993. The couple separated in 1996 and their divorce was finalized …

The car bomb discovered in Times Square would probably have killed or maimed many people, police officials and federal investigators said Sunday as they began assembling evidence collected from the homemade device, video surveillance footage and the vehicle itself to determine who attempted the attack on a warm spring evening in the heart of New York City.
Investigators acknowledged that much about the bombing attempt, the most serious in the United States since the Christmas Day incident aboard a commercial flight bound for Detroit, …

A group called the Detroit Parent Network is calling for arrests of their public school teachers… seriously!!!! On the organization’s website they have this quote “Detroit Parent Network is a premier parent organization that transforms parents to make Detroit a better place to raise and educate our children”.
OK, all this has stemmed from a national test score program that rated Detroit’s public schools the worst in nation. How bad you ask? well to begin with 69% of their 4th grade kids has below BASIC {not average} skills, 77% of 8th …

1. Most of us do not take every piece of text in it’s literal form. A lot of what Jesus said wasn’t to be taken in the literal form, but has some underlying message or teaching
2. We do not think we are better than non-believers. We are all human. We all make the same mistakes, we all fall into the same traps. Because we follow the word of Jesus Christ, we try to live by his word and teachings, trying to be better people every day, but we know that …

Just what we needed during this recession – SPENDING MORE! Obama and his liberal cronies have no idea what they’re doing. From their world apology tour, to this ridiculous spending – Wasteful spending at that. What happened to all the Bush bashers who were complaining about war costs? I don’t hear them condemning Obama for his frivolous spending (which is double what Bush spent his first year) In fiscal 2009 the federal government spent $3.52 trillion

The Pledge of Allegiance was first written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, a Baptist Minister and Socialist, for the patriotic family magazine The Youth’s Companion . At that time it read “I Pledge Allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands; one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
The Pledge officially became part of the US Flag Code in 1942. In 1954 the words “under God” were added to the Pledge by Congress with approval from President Dwight Eisenhower.
A 2001 lawsuit, filed by Michael A. Newdow, …

The death penalty has been debated by civilizations throughout history. What crimes, if any, are so heinous in nature as to justify killing another person and what system of justice can be created to prevent further killing are challenging questions.
While capital punishment has been banned throughout parts of the world, execution remains a legal option in many countries. The United States, for example, executed 1,057 people from 1977 through 2006 primarily by means of lethal injection. Those executions generally took place with popular support among Americans who …
